• Use routine and specialist laboratory techniques to accurately process specimens and validate results.

• Read, understand and follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Carry out routine equipment maintenance.

• Perform all work under strict quality control guidelines.

• Participate in departmental training to ensure ongoing technical competency.

• Assist the Department Head in managing the inventory.

• Comply with laboratory Health and Safety procedures.

• Ensure work area is clean and organised, and adequately stocked.


• Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in a Science field.

• A minimum of 1-year clinical laboratory experience, which must include specimen processing.

• Attention to detail and ability to work independently.

• Organised with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high throughput environment

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Good reasoning skills.

• Personal computer skills, strong typing ability, and knowledge of Microsoft Office.

• Ability to adapt and be flexible to meet the demands of the business.
