VCA Woodford Animal Hospital is hiring a full time Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team!
About Us
We are an AAHA-accredited, state of the art veterinary hospital outside Lexington, KY. We provide our patients and clients with excellent service from start to finish. Our 5-doctor practice has a wide range of medical and surgical options available for patients. Species we see include dogs, cats, and rabbits.
We are currently working with team members to become Fear Free certified in order to help patients receive the best care with less stress.
We are open weekdays 7am - 6pm, Saturdays 7:30am - 1pm, closed Sundays.

About the Role
We are seeking an LVT that believes in high quality medicine and excellent patient care. In this position, you will be working with our veterinary team to provide top notch medical care. This team member must be a clear communicator, team player and have the passion for serving patients. Based on experience, we offer top tier compensation for this area.
Duties include:
Act as the extra eyes, ears, and hands for our veterinary staff to ensure the best quality patient care.
Obtain relevant information and maintain proper and complete medical records.
Provide compassionate patient care
Venipuncture
Catheter placement
Obtaining radiographs
Monitoring anesthesia
Completed physical exam and patient assessments
Surgical preparation and assisting
Dentistry and dental x-rays
Abaxis lab equipment
Pharmacy duties
Participate in continuing education and actively work to increase skills
Assist in restocking hospital supplies
Appropriate disinfection protocol used when cleaning various areas of the hospital
Mentoring team members as they are on their journey in becoming licensed veterinary technicians
Requirements
Current Kentucky Veterinary Technician license (LVT) in good standing
Proficient in veterinary technical skills including job duties listed
Animal handling skills and at least a basic understanding of animal behavior and low stress handling techniques
Available to work a five day work week Monday through Saturday including evenings (hospital hours are weekdays 7am-6pm, Saturday 7:30am-1pm)
Able to be on your feet for extended periods of time which often requires bending, crouching, squatting, and leaning over, twisting, reaching, upper body strength, hand strength, sitting on the floor, and other physical demands
Strong enough to withstand pulling of a large strong dog on a leash
Able to lift 40 lb unassisted
Able to remain calm and multi-task in a stressful environment
Can work positively as a team player
Ability to learn, apply new skills and follow through with directions and task
Effectively problem solve and make decisions as needed
Knowledge of medications and veterinary terminology
Able to handle conflict with maturity and emotional intelligence
