VCA Animal Hospitals Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) - ICW Department in Sacramento, California

We are seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our team at VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center. These positions are for Day and Swing shifts for Intermediate Care Ward. In our ICW, you will take care of our hospitalized patients from our various specialty departments. You will your patient's advocate for high level care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians in all aspects of patient care, including physical examinations, diagnostic procedures, and surgical interventions.

  • Perform and interpret diagnostic tests such as bloodwork, urinalysis, radiographs, and other imaging modalities.

  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.

  • Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures, and provide appropriate nursing care.

  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Educate clients on preventive care, medication administration, and post-treatment instructions.

  • Collaborate with other members of the veterinary team to ensure the highest standards of patient care and client service.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with current licensure in the state of California.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a veterinary technician in a clinical setting, preferably in a specialty or emergency hospital environment.

  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in anesthesia monitoring, venipuncture, catheter placement, and laboratory procedures.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients and team members.

  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care, with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.

Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The pay range for this position is $23 to $28/ hour.
