Hours: 40 hours per week, 1:4 weekends, share of minimal on-call duties.

Your role and responsibilities

We are seeking a RVN with a passion for Oncology to join our team on a fixed-term basis. With growth, there is potential for this to lead to a permanent role.

You'll work closely with our team of Oncology Clinicians, Interns, RVNs and PCAs. Duties will include:

  • Formulation, preparation and administration of chemotherapy drugs on veterinary prescription (including IV catheter placement where relevant) and distribution to external practices as appropriate.

  • Administration of sedation and monitoring of sedated oncology patients whilst they are in the chemotherapy administration rooms.

  • Collection of blood and urine samples from oncology patients if required.

  • Communication with owners and/or referring veterinary surgeons of oncology patients as needed.

  • Liaison on the nursing care of chemotherapy in-patients in conjunction with patient care and diagnostic nurses.

  • Chemotherapy drug and equipment ordering.

  • Maintenance and cleaning of negative pressure isolator hood

  • Maintaining stock and cleanliness of chemotherapy preparation and administration rooms.

  • Maintenance of accurate record of chemotherapy administered and relevant health and safety data.

  • Chemotherapy safety training of other staff.

Although previous referral experience would be an advantage, it is not a requirement to apply. You will receive a comprehensive induction period of shadowing and support, to ensure you thrive in your new role!
