Job Description:

As a Royal Canin Associate you have an obligation to:

Provide for a Safe Workplace

• Role model the application of Mars Food Safety and Quality Standards to ensure safe products to our consumers

Site Quality & Food Safety

  • Guarantee and apply ISO 9001, 22000, Mars Standards, and all related working procedures

  • Support the HACCP program in the department & responsible for all analysis result & method.

  • Lead GLP-GHP in the area, 5S

  • Inform shift leader of quality deviations according to product standards and production procedures

  • Deploy required audit programs and continuously improve the Good laboratory practice within the RGY site through consultation and collaboration with Site Q&FS & Operations Team.

  • Lead MGS Problem Solving Methodology to identify root cause of any issues/incidents.

  • Immediately escalate and make recommendations to the Site Leadership Team in relation to chemical analysis & reception OOS.

  • Provide hands-on technical expertise in resolving issues and identifying chemical risks. This may include recommendations as to appropriate actions and evaluations of resources required.

  • Collaborate with Site Technical, Reliability and Operations Team to ensure prioritization of capital budget to improve Mars laboratory standards on site.

  • Be an active member of Site's Food Safety/HACCP Team

Human resources

  • Training: attend any training program as scheduled by company management and train any designed person in the position

  • Train associates and third party on GMP, ISO etc.

  • Adhere to multi-skills policy;

Lab management & Responsibilities

  • Day to day co-ordination of the laboratory in line with global standards and monitoring regimes, while respecting the laboratory budget

  • Ensure conformance to all legal and legislative requirements

  • Manage the metrology of equipment in the laboratory and quality control equipment in the Extrusion room

  • Coordinate inventory and order supplies for the laboratory

  • Coordinate Ring Test participation and performance

  • Collection, preparation, coordination, and dispatching of samples to required RC laboratories and external laboratories for relevant analysis

  • Utilize laboratory computer software to provide all sample results to various departments

  • Updating management on Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)

This position description is to serve as a guide. It is intended to be flexible and will continue to evolve over time with business needs and demands and will be updated periodically and at the company’s discretion.

This position reports to the Q&FS manager. The position maintains close relations with the following:

  • Site HSE Team & Site Operation Team

  • All Shift Managers and Reliability Manager on Site

  • RGY Site Leadership Team

  • Site Lab Managers of other Mars Petcare Dry Pet food sites within the AP Region

  • APAC MGS Team

  • APAC Region Q&FS Team

This position is expected to have below knowledge / experience to perform the Lab manager task.

  • Minimum 5 years working experience in equivalent lab position within food and feed manufacturing, preferably within multinational manufacturing / FMCG environment

  • Experience in HPLC, GC and NIR is preferred

  • Good communication skills to liaise internally and externally, as well as to assist in motivating, training, and improving the lab team

  • Sensitivity to the quality and food safety incidents

  • Be Familiar with quality tools regarding root cause analysis, smart decision making, risk assessment and etec

  • Self-motivated, initiative, team player, odor sensitive and texture perception, depth perception, safety & hygiene & quality conscious

  • Fluent English speaking and writing;

  • Strong team player and leader with ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines

  • Strict attention to detail mindset

  • An energized, optimistic ‘can do’ attitude

  • Demonstrate Mars Five Principles

  • Good command of spoken and written English
