Registered Veterinary Technologist Team Lead

The Calgary Animal Referral and Emergency (C.A.R.E.) Centre is currently welcoming a full-time Team Lead RVT to join our emergency team.

  • Have completed a Veterinary Technologist or Animal Health Technologist program. Preparing to write your VTNE? We can help!

  • New graduates with knowledge of physical examinations, patient assessment, catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, radiology, venipuncture, and pharmacy - welcome to apply! We love growing new graduates!

  • Surgical preparation, assisting, and patient recovery.

  • Ability to keep detailed and accurate patient records.

  • Compassionate care for our hospitalized patients and their pet parents

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Ability to problem-solve or the ability to ask clarifying questions to help you find solutions.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills in working with your colleagues and pet parents.

  • Passion to learn more within the role.

  • A love for all companion animals!!

Other duties and responsibilities include:

  • Training and orientation for new team members,

  • Creating an equitable schedule for the team

  • Coordinating vacation coverage

  • Cross-training within the hospital departments,

  • Assist in performance management.

  • Involvement in patient treatments as necessary to support the ER team and overall hospital support.

Schedule : This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position with a schedule that can be flexible to meet your individual needs, our emergency department runs 24 hours a day/7 day a week, but the position does not necessarily need to encompass all shift hours. Typically, a 4x10 hour schedule is accommodated, filling in on the floor where required to assist.

The C.A.R.E Centre is committed to supporting pet owners and the veterinary community by providing the highest level of animal emergency and referral care.

The successful candidate will support and direct the Emergency RVT team professionally and kindly while recognizing the responsibilities involved in responding to client and co-worker questions.

The Emergency RVT Supervisor will also work closely with the hospital's leadership team to promote a positive hospital image and continuously work towards the betterment of the hospital. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work efficiently on your own and with the team.
