VCA Animal Hospitals Patient Care Coordinator, Lead in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Job Summary:

The Patient Care Coordinator Shift Lead is dedicated to providing world-class service to all clients and their pets. The lead position will ensure that the service offers efficient day-to-day processes and a culture of collaboration amongst the doctors, veterinary technicians, customer service representatives and the referral community. The Shift Lead will be an extension of hospital leadership to provide support and guidance to the PCC department.

• Education and Experience :

  • High School Diploma.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a veterinary facility and familiarity with veterinary terminology, medications, and procedures.

  • Experience using veterinary practice management software.

Physical Requirements:

  • Dependable attendance is required.

  • Any allergies to animals must be controllable through medication.

  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds.

  • Must be willing to work long or irregular hours under pressure conditions that include weekends.

  • This position requires the ability to walk, bend, stand and reach constantly during a minimum 8-hour day.

  • Visual acuity sufficient to maintainaccurate records, recognize people and understand written directions.

  • Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand, give information in person and over the telephone.

  • Fine motor skills adequate for utilizing hospital equipment such as computers, and printers.

Duties:

The following is a list of essential job requirements. This list may be revised at any time and additional duties not listed here may be assigned as needed. Job Functions and Job Responsibilities include overseeing that the following occur within the hospitals.

  • Collaborate with hospital manager to strategize, execute, and evaluate the implementation of SOPs to improve daily workflow.

  • Educate and train, new Patient Care Coordinator by demonstrating knowledge of effective techniques to support associate of varying skills.

  • Monitor, assign tasks, and provide guidance to established procedures and protocols

  • Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate associate relation, by identifying concerns that need to be addressed by HR or supervisor in a discreet and professional manner.

  • Provide course correcting feedback in a clear and concise manner orally and in writing to ensure the associate comprehends.

  • Provide feedback and observation of an associate skills and development to supervisor/hospital manager.

  • Working with hospital manager to regularly communicate with all associates within the hospital and the referral community of any changes in the specialist/ER schedule that will affect patient care.

  • Create monthly schedules for the Patient Care Coordinator service

  • Supports Hospital Manager in r eceiv ing call outs from Patient Care Coordinator service. This position will share in the responsibl y of find ing coverage for these shifts when necessary.

Communication:

  • Read and respond to all communication in a timely manner.

  • Ensure the VCA policies, guidelines and recommendations are quickly communicated to hospital staff and adequate training is supplied.
